BUSINESS
PLANNING AND BUSINESS STRATEGY
Background
Despite
the number of books written on strategic planning very few companies
understand what to do or how to do it particularly in a world of
e-commerce, e-banking and rapidly changing priorities. This is particularly
true in utility companies which have gone through more changes than
most.
Method
Our
approach was to focus on the things that that particular company
valued. A group of senior managers then worked with us to establish
the real business drivers and how they could use these to make culture
changes within the business.
Outcomes
-
An understanding of what the new strategy really meant for everyone
- An EFQM quality model that highlighted the things that enable
change and the results of changing them
- A balanced scorecard measure which communicated progress and how
well the strategy was being carried out through the business
